Entertainment Units …

We have built many entertainment units over the years. With the advent of flat screen T.V.s the concept has changed dramatically from big boxes with retracting doors, to units that the T.V. sits on or is housed in more of a bookcase style unit.

By browsing our built-in furniture page and also libraries you will find some example of multi function units. Following are some examples of contemporary purpose built pieces.

This is still a multi-function unit, however it was built specifically for the T.V. and also houses a small stereo as well as storage. It has 4 sliding doors so the T.V. can be concealed. They can also slide in front of the T.V. to expose 2 display areas with glass shelves with down-lights. The counter top is Bellastone, and the interior charcoal melamine with an iridescent gloss board exterior.

This is an apprentice piece made from Silver Ash with Cedar trim & a Birdseye Maple drawer bank. Space on top for the telly with spaces below for stereo and PlayStation. The drawers are to accommodate C.D.s and D.V.D.s. It is being used in a teenager’s bedroom.

This cabinet has a Tasmanian Oak veneer interior with solid T/O bench-top, and doors with glass panels all finished in clear lacquer.

This unit has a Staron top. The routed panels in the doors are a feature, that also allow the remotes to work, and the sound from the speakers out. It is washed with our green antique country finish. The hutch is a matching colour, with the photo just reflecting the outside light.

Here is a simple design built in to an accute corner of a room to to house the T.V. and stereo built from solid Tasmanian Blackwood and finished in clear lacquer.
